If Orochimaru could have had a clean victory over his former sensei he wouldn't have summoned any help at all. He would have preffered to do it himself to show the rest of the world he had surpassed the Third. The thing is, even with both Edo-Tenseis, the surprise attack AND the barrier, Orochimaru was almost defeated. Soundly(there was no coming back from that Jutsu) I believe that, had it been single combat, Hiruzen would have defeated Orochimaru OR when things started to look grim, Orochimaru would have turned tail, like he has done several times.
The Third could use jutsu from all affinities, had Enma and years of experience and some fierce determination that Orochimaru lacks(if it looked like he was about a lose, he would just run.).

How to apply the spoiler tag in comments: Spoilers(#s 'Put your text here') or: !Put your text here! For this I use MeGUI which is a video encoding software.
It lets you put in script from the Avisynth scripting language. And the technique you are talking about is called temporal anti aliasing. This software performs frame interpolation. I believe that the process of interpolation actually does the opposite. In fact it causes more aliasing, haloing effects and blurring. I have to balance between these three things. But basically what goes on here is that it takes two frames and place one in between.
It does this for every frame in the video until it has twice as many frames as it did in the beginning. This usually will take 30 fps episodes and turn them into 60.
After the video is done with interpolating, this is where I can apply anti-aliasing script to smooth out edges and reduce some of the artifacts I get. Great question btw!
I am used to understanding these techniques with digital imagery not video. So even this stuff is new to me!
